Running is more than just exercise, it's a journey in self development and personal growth. Experienced runners know that besides paying attention to their environment and learning to be more sensitive to their pain, a runner must also develop greater self awareness. We all must be able to identify and appreciate both our strengths and weaknesses in order to cross the finish line and achieve our training goals. A great Jewish scholar once said, "Woe is to the person who isn’t aware of his faults. But even worse is a person who doesn’t know his strengths." Our greatness is born from accepting and developing all aspects of our personalities and learning how to utilize both the positive and negative ensures we reach our greatest potential. In fact sometimes it's actually our weaknesses that serves as our greatest strength. However when we deny these qualities and don't have the courage to embrace our real self, we lose the opportunity to transform that aspect of ourselves and to fully develop who we were intended to become. The qualities we posses are our G-d given tools, we were not created by accident. My coach always says reality is our friend. When we embrace that reality we not only bring ourselves closer to G-d but also capitalize on a unique opportunity to make ourselves greater.
Check out this incredible video that reminds us how even our weaknesses must also be valued and harnessed to help us become champions. Let us remember that even in our training and growth we can convert darkness into light which will illuminate our journey and get us across the finish line. - https://youtu.be/WvUrhe01z8w
